Something about Wales

One of the four countries that make up the United Kingdom, the Principality of Wales forms a wide peninsula on the western side of Great Britain.

Its most westerly point is St. David's Head, in Pembrokeshire.

Large areas of Wales are mountainous, with much of the land over 150m, the highest peaks being in Snowdonia in the northwest (Snowdon is the highest point in Wales at a height of 1,085m).

Famous for

The Millennium Stadium is the home of Welsh rugby; built on the site of the National Stadium at Cardiff Arms Park in the centre of the city, it is Europe's largest stadium with a retractable roof, and can seat 74,500 spectators.

The abbey at Tintern (1131-1537) was the first Cistercian monastery to be built in Wales, and only the second established by that order in Britain.
